I was so excited to make my first round of mail art, and settled on making these kind of organic flower-like (or donut like, as some have said) circles that I could intensely detail. Earlier last year I started working on a much larger piece in my studio using just Prussian blue and white that uses drawings/doodles reproduced from my sketchbook. I kind of fell off working on that piece as other work got in the way, so thought this would be a nice way to pick up the idea while that thing sits in a pile in my studio wondering if finish it. All of the text comes from some phrases heard while listening to  Marc Maron podcasts (no idea which one). I liked just picking up random phrases of regular conversation and playing with giving those phrases importance. So much fun! I also blogged about it a bit here on my personal studio blog.
I LOVED getting all this beautiful mail from everybody! Below, from top to bottom, left to right: Betsy Barnum, Melissa Wyss, Moshe Quinn, Taylor Vogland Dreiling, Vanessa Woods, Brad Ryder, Jana Rumberger, Susannah Eloyse Prinz
Ned Wyss' piece was a little late, but WELL worth it as it's some kind of movable paper calendar that seems like a camera gave birth to a calendar, and the envelope was fancy too (actually, I wish I had taken photos of other envelopes too -- next time!).

loved this alexis! looking forward to what pops up this month...
